Eye rejuvenation is a major concern for many people, including lifting drooping eyelids, treating dark circles or removing under-eye bags.

To lift drooping eyelids, radiofrequency treatments or injections can be used, as well as surgical techniques such as blepharoplasty to remove excess skin and tighten the muscles around the eyes.

To treat dark circles, hyaluronic acid-based treatments can be used to improve the appearance of the skin under the eyes.

As for bags under the eyes, they can be reduced with draining massages or surgical techniques such as eyelid surgery, or non-invasive treatments like hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin injections.

These different options depend on each person's specific needs and preferences.

Droopy eyelids

Drooping eyelids, also known as palpebral ptosis, refer to a drooping or drooping of the skin of the upper eyelid, which can lead to reduced visibility of the upper part of the eye. This phenomenon can range from mild to severe, and can affect one or both eyelids.

Droopy eyelids can be caused by several factors, including:

  • Ageing: The loss of muscle tone and reduced skin elasticity that naturally occurs with age can lead to eyelid sagging.
  • Genetic factors: Some people may be predisposed to developing droopy eyelids due to hereditary factors.
  • Trauma or injury: Injuries to the eyelids, associated muscles or nerves can lead to eyelid drooping.
  • Medical conditions: Medical conditions such as congenital ptosis (present at birth) or acquired ptosis (developed later in life) can lead to drooping eyelids.

Droopy eyelids can cause symptoms such as difficulty opening the eyes completely, a feeling of heaviness in the eyelids, reduced vision or headaches due to increased eye strain.

Hollow circles, also known as under-eye circles or deep circles, refer to a depression or hollow located under the eyes, often associated with darker or discolored skin. This phenomenon can give the impression of hollows or shadows under the eyes, which can contribute to a tired or aged appearance.

Hollow circles can be caused by a number of factors, including:

  • Loss of fat volume: As we age, the fat that holds the skin together under the eyes can diminish, leaving hollows or depressions under the eyes.
  • Loss of collagen and elastin: Reduced collagen and elastin production in the skin under the eyes can also contribute to the appearance of hollow circles.
  • Heredity: Some people may be genetically predisposed to hollow circles or thinner skin under the eyes.
  • Fatigue and stress: Lack of sleep, stress and fatigue can aggravate the appearance of dark circles, causing skin to sag and accentuating under-eye shadows.
  • Dehydration: Insufficient hydration can make the skin under the eyes thinner and more prone to the appearance of dark circles.

Pockets under the eyes

Under-eye bags, also known as "palpebral edema" or "periorbital edema", refer to an accumulation of fluid or fat under the skin in the area under the eyes. These bags can give a puffy or swollen appearance under the eyes, which can be considered unattractive for some people.

Puffiness under the eyes can be caused by several factors, including :

  • Water retention: Water retention in the area under the eyes can lead to swelling and the appearance of bags under the eyes. This can be due to factors such as dehydration, excessive salt intake, allergies, fatigue or hormonal fluctuations.
  • Weakening of tissues: As we age, the tissues and muscles around the eyes can weaken, leading to sagging skin and bags under the eyes.
  • Heredity: Some people may be genetically predisposed to under-eye bags due to their facial structure or anatomical features.
  • Fatigue and stress: Lack of sleep, stress and fatigue can aggravate the appearance of under-eye bags by causing blood vessels to dilate and water to be retained in the area.
  • Allergies: Seasonal or environmental allergies can cause inflammation and swelling of the tissues under the eyes, which can contribute to puffiness.
