Laser Hair Removal in Tel Aviv: When to Start and How Many Sessions?

Permanent hair removal is one of the most sought-after beauty treatments in Israel, where people wear light clothing for much of the year. But to achieve good results, the timing of when you start and the frequency of your sessions are just as important as the technology itself. Here’s what you need to know before you begin.

How does laser hair removal work?

The laser targets melanin, the pigment found in hair. The energy is transmitted to the hair follicle, where it gradually destroys it without damaging the surrounding skin. At myclinic, we use the Diolaze XL, a high-powered diode laser equipped with a built-in cooling system that makes treatments quick and comfortable.

An important point: the laser only affects hairs in the growth phase. However, at any given time, only some of the hairs are in this phase. That is why multiple sessions are necessary.

When should I start?

Fall and winter are the best times to start. Tanned skin can be treated, but you should avoid any sun exposure during the week before and the week after each session. Under the Israeli sun, this is much easier between October and March.

Another advantage: by starting in the fall, most of the sessions are finished before summer, just in time to enjoy the beach.

How many sessions should I plan for?

A series of 6 to 8 sessions is generally recommended to treat the various hair growth cycles and achieve long-lasting hair reduction. The exact number depends on several factors:

  • The area: The face often requires more sessions than the legs or underarms;
  • hair type: dark, thick hair responds better than fine hair;
  • Hormones: Hormone-related hair growth may require more sessions and more frequent maintenance.

Treatments are scheduledapproximately one month apartfor the face and six weeks apart for the body, to match the hair's growth cycle. Follow-up treatments may then be recommended as needed.

How should you prepare for your session?

  • Shave the area the day before or the same day.
  • Do not wax or pluck hairs for the entire duration of the treatment: the laser needs the hair to be in its follicle.
  • Avoid sun exposure and self-tanning products during the week leading up to your session.
  • Please mention any ongoing medical treatment during your appointment.

After the treatment, slight redness may appear for a few hours. Avoid saunas, very hot baths, and intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours, and avoid sun exposure for one week.

Which areas can be treated?

Almost all areas: face (upper lip, chin, neck), underarms, arms, bikini line, legs, stomach, and back. Men can also have their back, shoulders, chest, or arms treated, excluding intimate areas. Multiple areas can be treated during the same session.

How much does it cost?

At myclinic, laser hair removal starts at 100 ₪ per session for a small area. Since a full treatment requires several sessions, we offer packages of 5 and 10 sessions, which are more cost-effective. For example:

Zone 1 session 5 sessions 10 sessions
Upper lip 100 ₪ 450 ₪ 800 ₪
Armpits 150 ₪ 650 ₪ 1 200 ₪
Full-body swimsuit 200 ₪ 900 ₪ 1 600 ₪
Whole legs 400 ₪ 1 800 ₪ 3 200 ₪

Frequently Asked Questions

Does laser hair removal hurt? The sensation is often compared to a mild, warm pinch. The Diolaze XL’s cooling system makes it very tolerable.

Does laser hair removal work on blond or white hair? Not very well: the laser relies on the hair's pigment. Light, red, or white hair does not respond well to the treatment.

Can darker skin tones be treated? Yes, the diode laser is suitable for a wide range of skin types. The settings are adjusted during the consultation.
