At what age should you see a doctor?
We recommend an initial orthodontic consultation starting at age 6, even if not all permanent teeth have come in yet.
This consultation makes it possible to assess:
- jaw growth
- teeth alignment
- the position of the permanent teeth
- habits that can affect development (mouth breathing, thumb sucking, atypical swallowing, etc.)
In some cases, simple monitoring is sufficient. In others, early treatment leads to better outcomes.
What conditions can be treated?
Interceptive orthodontics can be used to correct, among other things:
- misaligned teeth
- jaws that are too narrow
- bite problems (open bite, deep bite, crossbite, etc.)
- misalignments between the jaws
- insufficient space for the permanent teeth
